ITS HOMA

The Higher Technical Education course in Hospitality Management for reception facilities (HOMA) is an alternative to University allowing a fast-track access to the hotel sector. It is a specialization school financed by the Ministry of Education and by the Region Tuscany, and is characterised by a full involvement of companies in all the stages of the training process.

The course is part of the Project GiovaniSì (www.giovanisi.it) of the Region Tuscany, and is free of charge.

 

PARTNERS

The training course is organized by the Fondazione TAB (Tourism, Art and Cultural Heritage), more specifically by the following actors: Fondazione Campus, UNA Hotels, the schools “S. Pertini” (Lucca), “C. Piaggia” (Viareggio), “Matteotti” (Pisa), “F.lli Pieroni” (Barga) and the training centres Per-Corso, Cescot Toscana Nord and SO.GE.SE.TER.

 

OBJECTIVES

The objective of ITS HOMA is to provide the operational and managerial tools required for a correct management of tourist-reception companies, with a specific focus on the areas of front office, marketing and revenue. In this way, ITS students will have the possibility to learn, on one side, the most advanced techniques for the organization and management of the Front Office area of national and international hotel companies and, on the other side, the economic-financial skills being required to assist the Management in promoting the facilities and making them more competitive in an increasingly dynamic and global context.

ITS students may also enjoy all the high-level services of Fondazione Campus, including the support of a Career Service office, providing a real consultancy service and helping students find the internship that most suits them and start their career, thanks to workshops and career guidance activities.

 

TARGET

The course is intended for 20 young participants aged between 18 and 30 (not completed at the moment of submitting the application), holding the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma

or:

  • Completion of a four-year period of Professional Technical Education and Training (IeFP) integrated by a one-year Higher technical education and training course (IFTA), and interest in starting a career in the hotel sector.

 

TEACHING

The two-year course has a duration of 2,000 hours, of which 900 dedicated to internships in companies of the sector. Lessons will be held at the “S. Pertini” School of Lucca and at Fondazione Campus.

FINAL CERTIFICATION

At the end of the course, the participants passing the final exam will receive a State-recognised diploma as Senior Expert, corresponding to the 5th EQF (European Qualification Framework) level. University credits will also be assigned.
